Hello Everyone!
In honor of Pink Saturday let's have some fun!
Hurry this way to see a cabbage rose project that is easy to do!
Let's have a give away too!!!
We start the project with a piece of fabric 54"x 13"
You will need 20 gauge Sealah Shaper double sided no-sew adhesive with bendable wire and a tag gun.
Fold fabric in half, length wise. Press all salvage edges in 1/2 inch and also a crease down the center of the fabric. Open up flat and get ready to place the Sealah Shaper on the fabric .
Just peel one side off for now while you place it on the fabric.
Just press down to stick. The Sealah Shaper is pressure sensitive. Wire is bendable so you may want to lay weights or soup cans down to hold the fabric in place as you press and stick.
After you have pressed wire down on outside edges you will need to place wire down the center of the fabric.
Peel off second side of the Sealah Shaper, fold fabric in half to close the fabric together.
Start pressing!
Press the whole piece together with you fingers. Don't worry if it looks wavy it will start shaping on it's own. You can still use a weight to hold as you press.
Start folding fabric where the seam came together. This will become the bottom of the rose.
Bend and fold every 2" inches or so.
You can see it bends with ease!
Now you can start to wind the fabric around and get ready to use a tag gun to hold your folds you made. Every 2" or 3" inches.
Tag on the bottom side of the rose. Can you see the seam? The bulk goes on the back side.
Here is the cabbage rose completed on the backside.
Now we can turn it over and its done!
You can bend and shape it any way you want!
This a great accent for a pillow, drapery or on the back of chair for a tea party!! My vintage friends out in blog land would love this cabbage rose project in a burlap fabric! Am I right ladies?!
-------------------------------------------------------------
OK, so here is the special PRIZE ...
-------------------------------------------------------------
A seven yard roll of the 20 gauge Sealah Shaper.
It comes in a handy spool holder.
And I am also adding a few more PINK goodies...
So we a have a seven yard roll of the 20 gauge Sealah Shaper and some pretty folders, a Parisian key chain and a signed 4x4 french inspired art.
This my first giveaway, anyone can enter by leaving a comment on this post (include your blog or email). The deadline for entering my little contest is February 2.
I will announce the winner on February 5.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Good Luck!
-------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Friends,
It's a new year and I have been enjoying walking around my city. The winter time in Riverside is lush with our green hills and mountains.
The sky is such a beautiful blue in the winter time.
The cross is quite large, if you look close you will see a man at the base to give you some perspective. This is an historical landmark at the top of Mount Rubidoux. Is has been on the hill since 1907.
Here are my sweet girls at the top of the hill.
Last weekend we headed to UCLA to watch my son play Rugby. What a treat to walk around the campus.
This architechture is amazing on the campus.
My Rugby teen waiting to play his second game. No broken bones so I am happy!
Another look around the campus...
My husband had his GPS with him so he could do some Geocaching. Of course he found one!
Anyone out there in blogland know about geocaching? You enter coordinates into your GPS and then head out to locate a hidden treasure.
Now don't get too excited, no large cash winnings. Really the thrill is in finding the cache.
Here is the website if you want to check it out! www.geocaching.com
You sign a log with your name and date when you find the cache and then hide it again in the same spot for the next seeker.
Also that day we noticed a film crew on the UCLA campus setting up for the shooting of a foreign film near the library. We stayed out of the way but enjoyed talking to some of the behind the seen crew and security. A full day in LA.
Back home I have been walking in my neighborhood park. The sunsets have been just beautiful!
Enjoy the rest of your week see you on Saturday!

Hi Friends!
A new art Studio is OPEN called Marchen Studios! My dear friend Martina who is originally from Germany, and her sweet daughter Jessie have been very busy creating this space for the Riverside community. You can come and let your artists out and create!
They had a soft opening for family and close friends right before Christmas...
Festive awnings on the windows gives you a glimpse of the creativity that just beams from both of these ladies.
Martina and Jessie made these darling awnings with my parents no-sew Sealah tape!! Wooden dowels,
fabric, metal brackets and the 3/4 inch Sealah tape. My mom was thrilled when she saw them!
You can peek in the window and see the art boxes you can purchase with a membership. Your own cub-by to store your supplies and art projects at the studio.
Marchen Studios has many art supplies you can use and a nice variety to purchase for your projects.
Hourly creative time and monthly seminars are also available.
If you live in the Inland Empire area, please stop by and say hello to this artistic duo!

Hi Blogging friends!
Do you every feel like you have been treated like a Queen? By your spouse, family or friends? This may mean something different to each of you...
For myself, just doing something out of the ordinary, going to a creative boutique, a drive to the beach, sitting in backyard listening to the fountain, just stepping out of my regular routine can turn into a pampered feeling day.
I received a email last week from a dear friend Paula Prass. She said she was flying in to San Diego for a few days, could we have lunch?! Of course, I was thrilled to hear from her and excited that we could spend a day together! Quickly I called and changed a few appointments around so I could email her back and say YES! Is Tuesday OK?!
We had an amazing time talking over lunch about our lives, interior design and her new fabric-line. After lunch we walked around, enjoyed the sunshine and looked at the decor at the Hilton San Diego.
Such a great color palette in the lobby. The draperies were very interesting...an open weave cotton with tea stained circles. Paula and I both loved them!
I like to look up at light fixtures when I am in a hotel, usually the lights are large scale and can be very eye catching. How fun is this?! Glass bubbles!
After we finished our self guided tour. We hopped in my car and headed to Ocean Beach.
I called a few blogging friends last minute in the area and said can Paula and I come meet you and shop?!
Joy had invited me down a few times to Vignettes a beautiful store filled with inspiring treasures. Heather had also told me what a wonderful vintage store it was! Perfect timing to explore this special place.
Can you see why I was feeling a little Royal and like a Queen for the day? Sparkle everywhere and shopping with artistic friends...
I turned the corner and entered France.
This beautiful french armoire above is going home with Sweet Jane once she remeasures.
Can't wait to hear if it fits!
These paper lanterns are hanging in Joy's area of the store. Such fun whimsy colors!
I enjoyed browsing in her space. She had some adorable art pieces. Many adorned with glitter like this one.
If you live in the San Diego area and love what you are seeing...stop by this sea side french inspired store.
We ended the day with a yummy dessert next door at a bakery called Azucar.
What a pleasure it was to spend the day in San Diego with such creative blogging friends and enjoy each others company!
Paula, Jane, Joy, Sandra, myself, and Jackie is sitting at the table ;0)
I would love hear what makes you feel like a Queen for the day? Please share! Simple things in our lives can make such a difference.
Special warm hugs to Paula. What a blessing it was to share the entire day with you!!!
I really did feel special on Tuesday!
Until next time,
:kayellen

Spending a little time in the garden. Nice to see a few camellias, geraniums and roses blooming around the yard.
Kimberly Shaw in inspired me this week with her lovely blog and darling tea cup postcards. I decided to photograph some favorite china and share with you all today. Thanks for inspiration Kimberly!
Where is my scone and tea?!
OK, I see my teacup.
This painted plate belonged to my Grandma Ruth it holds fond memories of tea parties. Maybe I should have a treat on it too...
I love the reflection of gold flat ware.
I was so excited to find this geranium in my backyard, it looks beautiful with the plate!
White geraniums blooming too.
I found my creamer and I am not polishing it. I love it tarnished and weathered.
A wonderful day to be outside in Southern California.
I need to get back to watering the garden.
Happy Pink Saturday Ladies! Thank you Beverly for hosting another wonderful gathering of friends.
Thank you for stopping by...Not sure what happened to the scones? Please help yourself to some animal cookies before you leave.
Have a blessed weekend,
:KayEllen

Hello Friends!

It's a New Year so some of you maybe planning a remodel in your home in 2009. It is such a pleasure to help clients as they start a project.
Picking out paint, flooring, lighting, cabinets, doors and looking at blueprints, it all takes time! Many decisions need to made quickly as the room progresses and is completed. Deciding each element is a joint effort between myself and my client.
You have to realize up front when you start a large remodeling project that you will have limited privacy with contractors in and out of your house everyday. Some of you may be in the middle of a project as I type this post! You know exactly what I am talking about!
Most inconvenient remodels are bathrooms and kitchens. But I have to say they are very rewarding when completed and they add the most value to your home when it is time to sell!
GIMBLE RESIDENCE
Hang in there! Before you know it your project will be completed!
This home was a pleasure to work on. The homeowner is an amazing eye surgeon from Canada.
He comes to California a few times a year and gives sight to patients that have lost hope in being able to see. I enjoyed hearing amazing stories of children and adults he has helped. Goose bumps every time he shared with me!
I felt truly honored to work for this family and to complete the remodel.
I chose a garden printed fabric for the valance. It adds a pattern to the kitchen and a garden feel to the whole room.
The trailing vines continues the garden feel and adds color and a warm charm to the walls.
Cozy family room across from the kitchen was due for a new look also...
The backyard is a gardeners dream! A beautiful view out each window. I decided to choose tall stationary drapery panels and soft shades to pull up or down for privacy. It is a great look for the space and when family or guests visit, they inevitably step into the backyard to enjoy the garden!
My mom has continued to sew custom draperies for over 25 years. Even though she travels and sells her Sealah no sew tape, she still agrees to sew custom drapery projects, thank goodness! I told her she cannot retire, I still need her.
FAULKNER RESIDENCE
This kitchen was a joy to do! This client is a dear friend and an amazing cancer survivor! I was thrilled when she called me and said I am ready to spruce up the house!
It was such a great transformation! I love the high contrast of light and dark. Very striking.
Anyone out there still have bi-fold doors? Really? They are such a pain to open and close and they seem to darken a room.
Look how this space just became larger and brighter! Fresh paint, new doors and wood floors. An open view into the next room just added square footage with out knocking out a wall or adding on!
Remember, if you are wanting a low cost, quick face-lift for a room in your home... paint is the best way to accomplish that.
Hope I have given you a few new ideas for the next time you start a remodel project. Happy New Year everyone and a special greeting to Rhoda's friends for stopping by!
If you live in the Inland Empire, I am available to help you get started on your project! Please feel free to email me.
Happy Decorating!

Hi Blogging friends,
Looking back and reflecting on 2008 is filled with many blessings.
Traveling with parents company Jodeesinc was a wonderful highlight! Being able to meet and visit creative vendors and interior designers in Washington, Oregon, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Boston, Arizona and California.
Amazing sites to see after work too!!!
Such a pleasure to help my clients in their homes...
Thank you to each one of you for blessing my design business! Teaching classes and speaking events was also a very rewarding part of this past year.
Also enjoyed showing how easy it is to use Sealah tape too!
Holiday decorating is something I look forward to every year.
In June I joined Flickr to learn more about photography. I had no idea how many wonderful and talented people I would share photos with from all over the globe!!! Really a pleasure. How exciting to meet some of you in person too! Can't wait to see what 2009 holds to connect in a creative way.
Blogging has become apart of my everyday life. Thank you to each one of you who has followed my blog entries and encouraged me by leaving such sweet comments.
Cheers to a new year of blogging adventures :)
Ring in the new year with hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Happy New Year!
