I enjoy mixing mis-matched china. I have a passion for it! Do you?
Before I became an Interior Designer, I free-lanced for May Company Department Stores in the 80's. I would travel from store to store with a visual team and decorate each department seasonally. I can't recall how many mannequins I dressed over the years...but let's just say too many! lol I loved my job during that season in my life but the home furnishings department always seemed less stressful. I would volunteer to head up stairs after the fashion areas were completed and re-work and decorate the china department. I loved it!
Some of the ideas I used back in my May Company days~~are still in my head today!~~~I select the china and then decide on a common color I can build on . Green has become my base for this tabletop setting.
The antique green and white china makes a pretty statement on the table. The dainty teacup adds charm and the tarnished silverware gives it character.
A touch of cottage ivy around the dinner plate adds texture and a finishing touch.
Next time you are setting the table try something new and mix in mis-matched pieces for fun and think of me:)))
Happy Table-Scape Thursday!
