I want to tell you a funny story about my last treasure hunting adventure...
Imagine a very dark garage, no electricity, extremely dusty, spider webs everywhere and a very small opening to walk in. A little scary but I was looking for a treasure in this dark and dreary space. At first I didn't see anything interesting and right before I was ready to exit this space I looked up and spotted two suitcases on a shelf.
I decided to be strong, forget about any fear and climb up a rickety old ladder and try to pull the two cases down. Thankful I had moral support near by...my Mom peeking in the door and our friend June holding a tiny flash light to help guide me up to the shelf. My weapon of choice was a garden shovel just in case a critter jumped out while I was up on the ladder.
I am sure there were spiders and bugs crawling all over but I was determined to get those two treasures down and brush myself off later.... you know, like a real treasure hunter!
Thrilled I got the cases down and I couldn't wait to exit the garage. I needed to check these cases out in the sunshine. Pleasantly surprised that both suitcases were in great shape and made by Samsonite!
I brought the two cases home excited about what I found and also glad that I didn't chicken out while treasure hunting in the old garage.
I began to wipe the suitcases down and clean them up on my front porch. I unlocked the latches and cleaned the first case. The second case was jammed shut...when I pried it loose I saw a large ball of fur? Fur, oh no what was this??
I yelled at my son to come and help me!!

My son ran outside and I told him I saw something with fur inside the suitcase..maybe a dead animal?! I wasn't sure what it was. I just knew I would not have the courage to pull this furball out by myself.
We were both very surprised to find an old fox fur staring back at both of us!
My son immediately thought it was hilarious and brought the fox inside the house and began running around scaring the cat and dog oh~~~ and me all over again...!!!
My neighbors are probably wondering why I was screaming on the front porch the other night? Sorry friends, it was just a beady eyed, pointed snout, four legged, creepy nailed, long tailed fox.... that scared me to death!!
I know fox fur wraps were quite chic and a fabulous fashion statement back in the early 1900's and up to 1940's.
I found these two glamorous fur ads from 1938,

I love the old graphics and art on both.
Funny how I was so proud of myself for succeeding in the scary garage but over come with fear in a split second when I saw something furry in a suitcase?!! lol
Warning friends ~~~Beware of old suitcases with fur inside.
If you are wondering the suitcases sold right away and Mr. Fox is going back into the creepy dark garage where I found him...!
I am looking forward to a fur free weekend :))
