My Mom brought over a very old scrapbook the other day...weathered and worn, and to my surprise it belonged to her Mom and Dad!

Special pages filled with hopes and dreams for an engaged couple in 1935...my Grandparents, Ruth and Dean. 

All the bridesmaids added special notes and magazine cuttings throughout the journal. My understanding is my Grandma recieved this scrapbook as a gift at her bridal shower.

I feel like I just stepped back in time, so precious.

I love these old graphics and the happy couple washing dishes together...and the husband is in the apron?!  

 

What a sentimental memory for my family to have from my grandparents. I wish I could talk to my Grandma and ask her more details about these special pages, quotes and writings.

We miss them both and will treasure this family heirloom from their yesteryears.

I also love knowing that artful clippings and scrapbooks were being created back in 1935.  

Amazing memories in these pages from long ago...

Spring Forward

Happy first day of Spring!

Ten Traveling Journals

 

Ten Journals, Ten Women, tons of creative fun.

I was asked to participate in a group of artful women to create journals that would travel from artist to artist to share our creativity.

The journals could have any theme we wanted but needed to reflect something we love.

I chose the theme of Travels by the Sea... 

On one of my flea market adventures I found a vintage Cash ledger book dating back from the 40's. I was so excited this would be come the base for my journal! 

I used a lot of Sealah No Sew Tape to embellish each page created.

Such a fun project putting each page together and yes I did get a little carried away adding each element. 

 

 Growing up in Southern California, beach trips were a big part of my days away and holidays. 

 

 I added a page for the ladies to take a treasure out of a sea bag.

 

 Another page for the ladies to choose a bookmark. 

 

 They will discover a page of mermaid ramblings by the sea...

 

Each journal will travel one by one to each particpant, I'm mailing my "Circle of Friends Journal" out this morning, it's off to the first destination in Texas.

I hope my friend Nancy from "My Crafty little page" enjoys my theme and has fun adding her designs!

I am really looking forward to recieving Dana's journal first from "The Stone Rabbit", I can't wait to get creative using her theme, whatever that may be and add a couple pages.

What a totally artful way to connect with others around the nation.

Road Trip to Phoenix

I am getting ready for a road trip with Jodees Inc.

We will be at the Phoenix fairgrounds selling Sealah No Sew Adhesive products at the Rusty Barn Show.

Quilters and  crafters travel from all over the globe to see the latest trends and inventive products to purchase at the Rusty Barn. Our booth number is #331

I will show off recent projects that clients and artisit have been making using sealah tape products. 

The beauty of the product is that you can use it on so many surfaces...paper, fabric, metal, glass and wood.

One new use I used in my shop...the  hat on "Jack Spratt" 

I used sealah no sew tape adhesive to adhere the deck of cards and ribbon on the black velvet hat.  So quick and easy to complete!

Sealah tape is a very smooth and fast drying product. The tape adheres quickly and has a faster result then hot glue or liquid glue. 

The blue night stand  shown in the photo above I used a little piece of sealah tape to adhere on the gliding wood bar inside the drawer. The drawer seemed to be moving a little off track but now the drawer glides in and out perfectly. I just placed a small 1/2 inch piece of tape under the bar and that's it! The bar inside the drawer is not moving at all. Thank you sealah tape.

Beach Feeling

 

Do you love the Beach? I sure do. I am definitely in a summer, beach feeling mood.

I pulled out my bucket of seashells and started embellishing bottles for my little shop.

Adding a few seashells on vintage trays or just placing them in focal points around your home can add that beach feeling.  

 

Do you like my seashell bookmark? I placed the shells in my vintage bible saved from a fire. A true treasure:) 

I hope I have inspired you to get out your seashells~~~ and start decorating!

Creative Destination

The moment I walked in the door I felt like I had stepped into an elegant french chateau.

A memorable weekend filled with art, laughter and friends.

I had so much fun at the Moulin Rouge Event and french inspired classes. 

The two of the three dolls pictured above are from friends Pam and Sherry at table seven. 

My doll is the golden crowned girl...we painted and antiqued our little can can girls. The majority of the ladies did a little sewing to put their skirts on the dolls...not me I sealah taped it! 

Each doll turned out so adorbale and very different! Colleen Moody taught this class, what a wonderful teacher!  

Another friend at my table...the talented and sweet Karla smiling with her beautiful doll finished. 

The tables were gorgeous. A very elegant setting to be artful and creative.

Myself , southern sweetie Sherry Williams and our amazing event coordinator and host Kim Caldwell.  You were both a blessing to me!

Pretty finished collage I talked about a few weeks ago... twelve designers particpated.

Midnight Crafter

I have such a busy schedule I seem to do my best crafting in the wee hours when my entire family is sleeping...

Playing with paper, ribbons and buttons for a special event I am attending soon!

I used my parents product sealah no sew adhesive to apply the paper, lace, ribbons, rick-rack, ball trim and a little dap of hotglue for the buttons I embellished.

Each heart shape I cut with out a pattern~~I wanted each one to look a little different completed.  

Twelve artists are making these 3x3 art pieces to become a beautiful collage of work. A special keepsake for our art-filled weekend coming up.  

I just put my twelve in the mail this morning to sweet Julie who is heading up this fun project!  I can't wait to see what others have created and designed!

Kim Caldwell has been working so hard with the props, goodie bags and special surprises for the attendees~~ all I can say is this french inspired weekend will be amazing...!

I am so excited to go!!

Cozy and a Craft

A stormy weekend... and I feel a cold starting.  A perfect time to wrap up in a blanket, daydream and watch a movie...also you can take a peek at my Fall decorated mantel.

I curled up on my cozy family room sofa, watched a NetFlix movie and listened to the rain outside.

My daughter and I did get a little crafty this afternoon. We made these cute little turkeys to share with you all.

A fun and easy project for kids of all ages... 

Turkey Craft 

Apple for the body

Large Marshmallow for the head

Toothpicks needed for the beak, feet and feathers

Two Whole Cloves for the eyes

Gumdrops become the feathers

Orange Slice is for the gobbler

Lay the apple on it's side, the bottom of the apple is where you will place the marshmallow head.

Take two toothpicks to make the beak and push into the apple.

Place two whole cloves in the marshmallow for the eyes.

Two tooth picks should work great for the feet...it will also help keep your turkey balanced and steady:)

After feet are added the Orange slice can be placed under the Marshmallow head.

Last detail is adding tooth picks in a fan shape. Place five to six toothpicks in the apple and add multi-colored gumdrops for the feathers.

Enjoy your edible Turkey!

A New Vintage Jacket

Do you all love bargains?
This one was perfect for me. I found this cute lace jacket at Marshalls...

Loved the price!
I was really looking for something a little bit longer with more lace... Hmmmmmm

Where's my sealah tape?

I selected one lace runner from my china buffet and cut it in half and decided to include two old doilies that belonged to my Grandma Ruth.

No sewing friends...I used my Mom's product sealah no sew tape!

This project was so much fun to make. I used the 1/2 inch width to adhere the lace and doillies....but I would suggest you may want to buy a 5 yard variety pack that gives you 30 yards total in five different widths.

Hand washed my jacket last week and it still looks amazing!!

I have to admit it took me about an hour to decide what lace I wanted to use? lol
...only 15 minutes to tape everything down.
